All questions - Exchange

GO-Boxes have a certain period of validity and must therefore be replaced in good time before they expire. The period of validity corresponds to the warranty period and is 5 years. The replacement is free of charge. You can use the GO-Box

  • until the period of validity has expired.
  • until the warranty has expired.
  • until the battery is empty.
  • until it is defective.

You will automatically receive a reminder two months before the end of the period of validity: the GO-Box will emit two short acoustic signals when you pass under the toll gantries. In addition, we will inform you in the SelfCare portal and via email if you need to replace your GO-Box. You can replace a GO-Box at a GO point of sale. In the prepaid toll system, any remaining credit is carried over when the GO-Box is exchanged.

After expiry of the validity period, the GO-Box will be blocked and will beep four times. Toll collection is no longer possible.

Pay the unpaid toll at a GO point of sale within 5 hours and 100 km to avoid a substitute toll.

Prepaid credit is valid for two years after the last top-up.
If you pass under a toll gantry in the last two months before the two-year period expires, the GO-Box will emit the two-tone warning signal to remind you to top up your credit.

After two years without topping up, a toll collection is no longer possible. The GO-Box will then beep four times.

Any remaining credit expires five years after the last top-up, i.e. three years after the prepaid credit’s validity has expired.

If you wish to continue to use your toll credit, you can

  • either extend the validity of the credit by topping up again within five years of the last top-up (total credit = old credit + new credit)
  • or have the remaining amount paid out at the GO point of sale and return the GO-Box.
