Whenever work is being carried out in or around the tunnel, the speed in the tunnel must be reduced for safety reasons. This includes work inside the tunnel itself, as well as, for example, system tests of the technical tunnel equipment. Therefore, it is possible that no workers are visible in or near the tunnel during such activities.

The Road Tunnel Safety Act (STSG) mandates that in events such as maintenance and cleaning work, disruptions, or accidents, restrictions must apply to the entire tunnel. This includes both speed limits and lane closures.
